It’s shocking how easy it is to accumulate piles of stuff.

When you’re first starting out in life, it seems like you need everything. But then you blink and 30, or 40, or 50 years have gone by and you’re surrounded by so much STUFF! From junk mail to photos. From books to sporting equipment. From family china to Star Wars figurines… There’s just so much stuff. Sometimes you wonder where it all came from.

Maybe you fantasize about tossing it all…

but you also know you can’t, because there’s important stuff in there.

Maybe you fantasize about keeping it all…

but know you can’t because there just isn’t room.

You know you’ve got to go through it (one day! soon!) but thinking about it just makes you tired.

Let me help you get control of all that stuff. When you see a demoralizing mess, I see an opportunity to create order. I see a chance to change things so you can enjoy what you’ve got and let go of the things you no longer want or need. Here are some ways I can help you.

Organizing & Releasing Stuff

You’ve got shelves full of  mementos you’re ready to let go of.

People collect all kinds of things these days and some of this stuff might be worth some money. You are much more likely to find a buyer on sites like eBay but figuring out what’s worth trying to sell and what isn’t can be a lot of work.

I can help you pull together your collection, figure out what’s worth the effort of selling, take pictures and write the copy for the listing. After the sale, I can ship it for you and provide a spreadsheet explaining what we’ve sold and for how much.

You would like to enjoy your photos and share them.

Maybe you have photos of your ancestors and want your grandchildren to know who they came from. Maybe there was a special occasion like a vacation, a wedding or a family reunion, and you’d like to give people a photo album of that event as a gift. A photo album is a great a idea and will be cherished for generations. But, it starts with hours of sorting and you don’t want to slog through all those picture to find the good ones. Putting them in order sounds like a boring chore. You just want to get to the fun part of putting them in the album!

Let me do the boring part for you. I’ll find those pictures, put them in order and help you figure out which pictures to use and where. I can also turn digital photos into print albums and prints into digital photos.

You want family heirlooms to go to special people in your life.

You’ve got things that were passed down to you and you’d like to make sure they get to the right person after you pass. The only problem is you’re not sure where those heirlooms got to and there are so many places they could be! The garage, the extra bedroom, the shed, the attic…maybe even the storage unit!

Considering downsizing or a long distance move?

I recommend you locate important objects and documents BEFORE you start packing. That way you are less likely to lose important things and will have a better idea of how much stuff you actually need to move.

If it’s there, I’ll find that stuff you’re looking for. There’s a good chance I will also find some stuff you didn’t know you were looking for but are glad you found. I can also pack things so they are ready to move or mail. For the things you want to keep, I can organize them so it’s easy to see what you’ve got.

Getting your affairs in order requires more information than you ever thought possible.

Estate Planning Preparation

Proper estate planning can save your inheritors a lot of time, money and frustration. But doing your will or setting up a trust requires so much paperwork! It’s not just identity documents and financial statements. When organizing for estate planning, you also need things such as an inventory of all your belongings, title and mortgage documents, medical records, advanced directives, and any existing wills or trusts. And now in the digital age, you need to keep track of your digital logins for financial institutions, social media accounts, streaming services and digital uploads.

It can be overwhelming to try to pull all the information together. Let me help you with that. I can work with you and your attorney to understand what you need, how it needs to be organized and do the leg work for pulling it all together. I can create a spreadsheet you can look at any time for a real time update on what’s been organized and what still needs to be done.

Organize Tax Information

If you dread tax time I’m willing to bet most of it comes from knowing you have to organize a year (maybe more!) of receipts, statements, proof of health insurance, etc.  Handing your CPA or tax preparer a handful off organized documents instead of a box stuffed with receipts and paperwork can save them a lot of time and you a lot of money. When you hire me to help you organize your tax info, I don’t just organize this year’s mess. I set up systems so it’s a lot less painful to pull your tax info together in future years.
